The main criterion for evaluation was the number of active patents of companies in the field of digital technologies.
Yandex has the largest number of patents – 411 documented inventions, models and industrial designs. A little behind is Kaspersky Lab with 408 patents. Sber is closing the top three with 305 patents.
At the same time, companies approach the formation of their patent portfolios in different ways. For example, 75% of Yandex’s patents are inventions, the rest are industrial designs.
While Kaspersky Lab is dominated by inventions, Sber focuses heavily on industrial designs.
Note that these three companies hold 76% of all invention patents and approximately 95% of all industrial design patents among the companies included in the rating.
