According to RIA Novosti, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko announced plans to produce thousands of domestic 5G base stations as early as 2025.

This step will enable the start of deployment of next-generation networks in the country’s largest cities, including cities with a population of over one million.

The development and implementation of 5G in Russia is carried out within the framework of the roadmap towards “Modern and advanced mobile communications networks” for the period until 2030.

By 2035, 5G networks using domestic equipment are expected to be deployed in all cities with a population of over 100 thousand. The first settlements in the country will have access to the technology as early as 2026.

The move to faster, more reliable mobile communications promises significant advances in the Internet of Things, telemedicine, autonomous transportation, and other areas where high data speeds and low latency are critical.
