Let us also remind you that iPad Air currently uses a 10.9 inch LCD screen. The switch to miniLED technology will provide a number of benefits, such as higher brightness, deeper blacks and resulting improved contrast in HDR content.
Additionally, the MiniLED display needs to be more energy efficient. Apple already uses MiniLED displays on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and MacBook Pro.
The 12.9-inch iPad Air is expected to have 2,596 local dimming zones, 2,732 x 2,048 pixel resolution, 1,600 nits peak brightness (HDR content only), and ProMotion support with refresh rates up to 120 Hz.
In addition to the iPad Air in 2024, Apple may also introduce the 3rd generation Apple Pencil, as well as an iPad Pro with an OLED display and M3 chip.
