Apple VP of Technology Kevin Lynch and Apple Watch CMO Deirdre Kaldbeck told Tages-Anzeiger why watchOS 10 doesn’t support third-party watch faces.
According to Lynch, the Apple Watch face is the watch’s home screen, and they can be used to keep everything running smoothly and consistently.
Kaldbeck added that Apple searches all watch faces, users “don’t have to think about the fact that the watch face is still working when a major watchOS update comes out. We’ll take care of it.”
If watch faces are available on the system, then Apple will not be able to continue working after a major update, such as the watchOS 10 redesign.
In addition, top executives added that Apple gives users the flexibility to customize watch faces and enhance them with external apps. [9to5Mac]
