The Kicksharing service Whoosh announced the localization of the production of parts for electric scooters. The components are produced in Russia and are already being used in the scooter fleet this season, a company representative told RB.RU.

Whoosh localized the production of components for electric scooters in Russia

Through local production, along with other optimization initiatives, the company aims to achieve 20% savings on the component budget in the second half of 2023.

The company organized the production of rubber mats, grips and grips, decorative overlays and other details. It is noted that these components are often subject to replacement during the operation of scooters. The parts are produced with an adapted design, improved materials and resistance to wear.

The project to localize the company’s production began in the fall of 2022. Currently, from 30% to 90% of the fleet, depending on the region of Russia, is already in operation with new parts. In the near future, the components will be used in the scooter fleet in the CIS.

Next season, the company plans to update up to 100% of the fleet with spare parts, the production of which is located in Russia. Whoosh’s fleet in Russia and the CIS now numbers 133,000 devices.

Electric scooter rental service Whoosh went public in December 2022 and raised 2.1 billion rubles, which it planned to spend on increasing the fleet and launching its own electric scooter model with domestic components. The company has announced plans to bring its own electric scooter model to market in 2024 or 2025.
