After the next update to X (formerly Twitter), users will be able to block comments on their posts from free accounts, The Verge has learned.

In X it will be possible to block comments from unverified users

In October 2022, the social network was purchased by billionaire Elon Musk. Once he took over the company, he introduced a Twitter Blue subscription fee of $8 a month for a badge that verifies an account’s authenticity. Shortly after the innovation, blue marks began to disappear from the profiles of celebrities, political and public figures.

Now, users will have the opportunity to limit repeats of unverified accounts. This functionality will appear in the settings.

As the publication writes, the argument is the desire to reduce the level of trolling on the social network. However, those who oppose the innovation point out that bots often have checkboxes.

Previously, the owner of X, Elon Musk, in a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, talked about another promising, in his opinion, method of combating bots. The businessman admitted that access to the social network may become fully paid.
