They said the attacks were most likely caused by the hacker group DoNot in India and were seen in Pakistan. Two malicious apps in the Play Store are the secure messenger nSure Chat and iKHfaa VPN.

The latter, meanwhile, copied the code from the legitimate Liberty VPN app and added the functions of accessing contacts and tracking real-time location.

Note that malicious apps often ask you to enable location detection via a Google service. With GPS enabled on the device, they can determine the current location of the user.

Although experts have detected malware in these apps, they are still available on the Google Play Store. So, if you somehow downloaded and installed at least one of them for yourself, remove it as soon as possible.
