Nowadays, very often videos shot in Film Effect mode are only available in the built-in Photos app, iMovie, and Final Cut. They all carry Apple.

However, in iOS 17, such clips are also available in external applications using the Cinematic API. The API works for both fun and download.

Cinematic videos consist of two files. While the other file contains all the metadata that generates the blur effect. On iOS 16 and macOS Ventura, the second file is not available in other apps.

To shoot video in cinematic mode and beyond, the regular Camera application is required. Others do not have such access. [9to5]
