The European Union approved the 11th package of sanctions against Russia, where it added a “mechanism to combat sanctions circumvention”: it allows it to impose restrictions against third countries. The document is published on the website of the Council of the EU.
Thus, the new sanctions package includes a mechanism that provides for the prohibition of exporting a series of goods and technologies to third countries to prevent their re-export to Russia.
Restrictions were also introduced against 87 pro-Russia companies, including the extension of the broadcast ban on five TV channels (RT Balkan, Oriental Review, Tsargrad, New Eastern Outlook, Katehon).
The sanctions also include a complete ban on the supply of oil through the northern branch of the Druzhba pipeline to Germany and Poland.
The export of electric and hybrid cars, new and used luxury cars is prohibited.
In addition, Russian trucks with trailers and semi-trailers will no longer be able to transport goods to the EU.
The sanctions also prevent ship-to-ship tankers suspected of violating a ban on Russian oil imports from accessing European ports.
The list of high-tech and military items whose transit through Russia is prohibited has also been expanded.
