It was developed by experts from the Samara Agricultural University and the NI Saratov State University of Genetics, Biotechnology and Engineering. The Vavilova seeder for small-seed crops makes it possible to increase the grain yield by 28% and the green mass yield by 2.5 times.

Current nt planter designs allow precise planting of small seed crops. Therefore, competition develops among the sprouts and the product is lost.

The scientists tested the new planter’s work on amaranth, a plant whose seeds are less than a millimeter in size and must be planted separately. The distance between plants in a row should be at least 20-25 centimeters, and between rows – 70 centimeters.

By increasing the homogeneity of distribution of amaranth seeds with the help of a seeder, agronomists can provide a significant increase in yield in terms of both grain and green mass.

The researchers plan to organize part production of seeders for Russian breeding research institutes and mass production for agricultural producers.
