Latvia has suspended the acceptance of applications from Russians for all types of visas for an indefinite period. The Latvian Foreign Ministry explained the decision by the “unpredictability of the development of internal political events” in Russia. Applications received before June 25 will be considered.
Since June 26, Latvia stopped accepting applications from Russians to issue all types of visas. This was reported by the Latvian Foreign Ministry.
Documents for the issuance of visas are not accepted by diplomatic and consular missions.
The Latvian Foreign Ministry explained the decision by the “unpredictability of the development of internal political events” in Russia. The department noted that all applications submitted before June 25 will be considered.
Latvia’s plans to limit the issuance of visas to Russians, including humanitarian ones, were unveiled on June 24.
In September 2022, Latvia restricted the entry of Russians: entry into the country from outside the Schengen area on tourist visas is prohibited.
