Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that the Russian NICA accelerator set is planned to be commissioned at the end of 2023.

The NICA (Nuclotron-based Ion Collider Facility) collider is being built at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna to study the properties of dense baryonic matter and search for new states. With its help, physicists hope to gain new knowledge about the structure of nuclear matter and solve a number of fundamental and applied problems.

Mishustin noted that in addition to NICA, Russia continues the construction of other megascience-class scientific installation projects – the SKIF ring photon source in Koltsovo and the synchrotron laser design in Protvino.
