78% of sellers in marketplaces trade on one site: Wildberries is the leader, according to the results of a Tinkoff e-commerce study. Over the past year, the number of sellers trading across multiple marketplaces has increased from 64% to 18% of the total.
In 2022, the proportion of marketplace sellers trading on two sites at the same time increased from 13% to 18%. This is confirmed by the results of the Tinkoff eCommerce study.
The vast majority of sellers (78%) sell only on one site. Wildberries has the lead with a 52% share of active sellers, those who receive regular payments. Following this indicator is Ozon with a participation of 34%. At the same time, Wildberries’ share fell from 63% to 52% over the year, while Ozon’s grew from 23% to 34%.
In the first quarter of this year, sellers chose Ozon more frequently (47%) as their first platform. Wild berries were preferred by 44% versus 75% the year before.
According to a Tinkoff survey of e-commerce customers, 20% sell clothing and shoes in marketplaces, 15% sell food and household chemicals, and 9% sell appliances, electronics, and housewares.
Tinkoff’s e-commerce research is based on de-identified data of 30 million individual Tinkoff customers from 2019 to 2023 in the largest Russian markets.
