The first plant in Russia for the production of ABS (anti-lock braking systems) and ESP (electronic stability control systems) for cars began operation in Kostroma. Interfax reports it.
ABS and ESP will be produced by NPP Itelma LLC. The company’s capacity is 850,000 units of finished products per year with the possibility of increasing it to 1.2 million units.
In May 2022, the government allowed the production of cars without ABS in Russia due to a shortage of the necessary equipment on the market.
The decision to gradually restore technical regulations in the automotive industry was made in June 2023. Since December, car manufacturers plan to make ABS mandatory for all manufactured cars.
