Elon Musk has created a new company called xAI. She will be engaged in developments in the field of artificial intelligence. Her main goal is to understand the true nature of the universe, according to the company’s website.
xAI will partner with Twitter, Tesla and others to “advance our mission.” Its founder will talk more about the work of xAI in a Twitter broadcast on July 14, 2023.
Employees at the new company include developers who have collaborated with DeepMind, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Twitter and Tesla, including developing the GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 chatbots and the AlphaCode artificial intelligence system.
- Elon Musk was one of the founders of OpenAI in 2015, but in 2018 he stopped supporting the project after disagreements with management about the speed and direction of technological progress. He also suggested that OpenAI does not pay enough attention to secure AI development. In March 2022, he was one of those who signed an open letter calling for the development of advanced artificial intelligence to be halted.
