According to the developers, this improvement allows drones to perform autonomous deliveries without the need for costly landing and take-off procedures.
RigiTech has developed a drop system within the platform of its largest drone, the Eiger. Warehouse workers load the cargo into a drone, and operations are remotely monitored via real-time video surveillance.
A notable application for the new technology is reportedly delivery to wind turbines. A similar scenario has already been successfully tested.
The drone made 40 autonomous flights with precision cargo drops atop a 95-metre-high turbine located 30km from the shore. Even in difficult weather conditions, the delivery success was 100%.
