I’ve always loved wireless speakers. You can take them with you or use them at home.
At the same time, they can be considered as quite comparable both on the street and in communication. Everything rests only during battery life.
And here’s my review of restore got a representative of a large company Harman Kardon, which has long established itself in the audio market. Its developments are available in modern smartphones, they are also used in other devices.
Today we will talk about Onyx Studio 8. I would never have thought that I would be able to print such a speaker.

The box with the speaker also contains a charging 8-shaped cable with a plug and documentation. A self-device can work without wires, so I’m not really sure why it was necessary to make such a solution in the form of a port that is not the most common. But okay.
This column is unlike any other.
We are already used to the fact that all columns are more or less similar to each other: cylindrical, square, round, oval – all different shapes. And here is the design of interaction with users.
This is a convex disc with a diameter of 30 mm, around which a stand ring is wrapped. The device looks very thanks to the competent decision of the shade of black and gray and materials. The rounded body is covered with recycled polyester yarn fabric, the handle is made of anodized aluminum.
Thanks to the unique unusual design, the speaker fits into any interior: from the old “grandmother’s” style to modern hi-tech.
The dimensions in the photo will still not work out to the end, so it keeps accurate measurements: 312 x 275.8 x 163.8 mm. Approximately 1.5 times the size of a handbag. The gadget weighs necessarily for its size – 3.52 kg.
This is not the column with which you go all the time: its design is trite not intended for purposes. Move from one place to another – yes, okay. It’s inconvenient to carry around. Therefore, it made more emphasis on sound, but more on that below.
If you are looking for a speaker that you can always take with you, it is better to pay attention to JBL Xtreme 3 or JBL Charge 5.
On the top column is a row of buttons to activate Bluetooth, turn on / increase the volume, turn on / off the power and speakerphone. In this case, the button for talking is also used for pause / play when performed once. To go to the next track, you need to Europe, to the dimension – three times. Management is standard, nothing fancy.
What and how can be connected to the column
On the back of the case there is an AUX output, a power connector and a USB-C service port.
Two devices can be connected to the speaker at once. For example, a smartphone and a computer. The sound will be broadcast in turn with each of them. This was possible thanks to the Bluetooth 5.2 module.
Personally, I have not seen any failures during the work of BT. At a distance of 10-15 meters, music always played without interruption.
Works for a long time
This is primarily a more stationary column. I don’t think many will want to take her outside. Except for a summer cottage, but not for a picnic or barbecue.
As stated by the company, a 3250 mAh battery is installed inside. It is enough for 8 hours of continuous work. There’s a lot of mass here, so I highly doubt you’ll make it above 40-50% most of the time.
In fact, there are enough columns almost 10 o’clock, if in the Russian Federation in the mode indicated by me. At high volume, the speaker lives for about 4 hours.
It takes at least 4 hours to fully charge the battery, in my opinion. This is a lot, but if you put it at night, then no problem at all.
Let’s move on to sound. It has all the spice
If many people can have conflicting opinions on design, then in terms of sound they all agree on one thing – here it is simply excellent.
Inside we meet a 120 mm woofer and two 20 mm tweeters with a power output of 50 watts. “Broadcasts” in nature from 50 Hz to 20,000 Hz.
So, let’s move on to the sound itself. I’ll say right off the bat that it’s easy here superb bass and excellent highs. This speaker makes the table vibrate at low volumes, like 20%. Of course, the shaking will not be strong, but noticeable for the people who are next to it.
I especially liked it vocals. He calls, clearly audible about his air meeting. Thanks to the high-quality high frequency, I was able to comfortably listen to even classical music. each instrument interacts, each new note. Just an amazing result.
As for the bass, it starts to churn and turns into mush at about 80%. The first slight distortion is already at 70%. Before that, everything is “hammering” energetic and enjoyableIt does not put pressure on the brain, and this is super.
Of course, such a device does not reach the detection of a subwoofer, but for a relatively small level of wireless speakers – the most “juice”!
It’s just frustrating that listening to music using great codecs like aptX Lossless or SBC won’t work.
This is a great wireless speaker for home and garden.
The Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 8 has great sound for the money. And it costs 32,990 rubles in re:Store. Available in three colors: black, blue and beige.
