To begin with, we note that mandatory fees such as service fees, packaging costs and mandatory tips are included in the cost of 79.1% of orders. Free shipping is more of an exception. Thus, the share of mandatory non-delivery charges in the cost of service in all cities averages 32%. The smallest share falls on Wolt (11%), Grocery Delivery (20%) and Yandex Food (22%).
Delivery services in Russia are among the cheapest in the world. The top three apps with the lowest service costs are Glovo (in Rome, Lisbon, and Madrid), Yandex Food, and Market Delivery. Compared to the average cost for all applications reviewed, the delivery cost of applications in Russia is almost 15% lower.
The cities with the lowest cost of service are Rome, Berlin, Lisbon, Madrid, Prague, Moscow and St. Petersburg, the cities where the service was most expensive were Copenhagen, Los Angeles, Oslo and Brussels.
The average cost of the service, including delivery and all mandatory fees and taxes, is 223 rubles. The average cost of services in Moscow, St. Petersburg amounted to 202 rubles – 176 rubles.
The findings shed light on the cost of food delivery services in various cities, highlighting the availability of services in Russia and identifying the most expensive places in the world.
