In the first half of 2023, the number of personal data leaks in Russia increased significantly, reaching 76 cases, quadrupling compared to the same period last year. The leak volume also increased significantly from 45 million records to 177 million records.

Roskomnadzor has expressed concern over the increasing attacks on databases and public leaks that are said to be linked to the hybrid war against Russia. The organization claims these attacks were planned and initiated abroad, possibly by experts linked to foreign intelligence agencies.

Registered hacking and leaking personal data has become a major problem, with around 150 such cases occurring last year. This requires attention and appropriate measures to ensure the security of citizens’ personal data.
