The author of the YouTube channel RandomGaminginHD has tested the assembly in eight games with the i5-12400F and GTX 980. All games are launched at 1080p.
In Cyberpunk 2077 with Textures and Crowds – Medium, the rest of the settings – Lowest managed to average 56fps. On very rare occasions the frame rate was 42fps.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was released with Ultra textures, the rest of the settings were Medium. The average framerate in this case was 57fps in extremely rare events – 45fps.
Forza Horizon 5 tested with High preset and TAA. The average performance in this game is 69 fps, in very rare events – 55 fps.
Hogwarts Legacy came with Medium, TAA Low preset. The average FPS in it was 52 fps in extremely rare events – 31 fps.
Spider-Man was running with TAA on Medium graphics settings. Average FPS in this case was 62fps in very rare events – 42fps.
The Last of Us came with the lowest preset. Average performance in this game was 44fps, in extremely rare events – 35fps.
Tested with Witcher 3 Next-Gen, High, TAAU, SSAO preset. The average frame rate in the game was 66 fps, in very rare events – 51 fps.
With the High, 100% Resolution, TAA preset, the frame rate averages 74 fps in Fortnite, in extremely rare events – 49 fps.
Compared to the GTX 980 4GB, the GTX 980 8GB got a very slight performance boost: in both cases, the average FPS across all games was around 57fps.
