Russian banks have stopped accepting dollars and euros through ATMs. This option is not available at Sberbank, VTB, Otkritie, Raiffeisenbank, Unicreditbank, Gazprombank, Sovcombank, MKB, Rosselkhozbank, PSB, Rosbank. At the same time, cash currency can still be deposited in bank branches, Izvestia writes.

ATMs in Russia stopped accepting dollars and euros

The changes are related to the imposition of sanctions against the Russian financial sector, the freezing of correspondent accounts, as well as the ongoing de-dollarization in Russia, experts say.

Only dollars and euros from systemically important banks are accepted at Alfa and Tinkoff ATMs. In the first bank they do not charge commission for depositing currencies and in the second they charge a commission of 5%.

  • In June 2022, Sberbank and VTB suspended currency transfers between Russian banks. Then this situation developed because of the sanctions.
