A study by the Rambler & Co media conglomerate showed that more than half of Russians plan to use digital rubles, but many want to try it only after full implementation. The Central Bank of Russia announced the launch of a pilot version of the digital ruble for real transactions from August 15. Initially they will test wallets, transfers and payments for purchases. More than 118,000 Internet users participated in the survey, and 56% of them confirmed their interest in the digital ruble.
While the majority of respondents (85%) would like to try the new product only after its official launch, 15% are ready to take the test. Those ready to try believe that the digital ruble will facilitate online shopping (32%) and investment processes (24%). But the Bank of Russia emphasizes that it is not a tool for deposits and loans, but a tool for payments and transfers.
Despite the interest in a new form of money, 41% of Russians believe that the digital ruble does not have a strong impact on everyday life. Some (34%) fear it will complicate the financial system, but there are those who welcome the innovation (25%), confident that it will simplify banking operations.
Survey respondents believe that the digital ruble can be beneficial for entrepreneurs. Many believe this will help fight corruption (49%) and reduce company costs (40%). Business representatives also believe that the new currency will make it easier to pay taxes (7%) and pay salaries (4%).
