The automatic station “Luna-25”, sent from the Vostochny cosmodrome to the Moon, is working normally. Roskosmos said the onboard and service systems are running smoothly and communication with the station is stable. The management team normally oversees the process.

“Luna-25” continues its journey to the Moon. Leaving the “Fregat” upper stage, the station came under the control of the ground crew. The launch of the Luna-25 and the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket took place from the Vostochny cosmodrome in early August. The plane is expected to make a soft landing on the Moon on August 21.

The main purpose of the Luna-25 is to test soft landing technology. This device could be the first to land on the Moon’s South Pole. The station will examine the satellite’s internal structures and resources, including water. Also, his task is to study the effect of cosmic rays and radiation on the surface of the moon.

Luna 25 is equipped with cameras to film the landing process, the panorama of Earth and the collapsing dust. The station will automatically search and photograph the Moon on commands from Earth.
