In 2023, users began to watch movies more actively in online cinemas on their smartphones, this was confirmed by Megafon analysts based on the data of their subscribers. Mobile traffic in these cinemas increased by 16% and the number of users increased by 13% compared to last year. More importantly, session length also increased by 4% to 35 minutes.

People are increasingly switching between different platforms to watch movies – on average there were already 2.4 video services per person versus 2.2 services a year ago. Traffic to online cinemas is actively increasing on Thursday and Sunday, with the greatest demand falling during the January and May holidays.

The proportion of users in the 25-35 age group increased particularly strongly, reaching 50%. Viewers over the age of 35, on the other hand, have become less interested in online cinemas. Analysts attribute the growing popularity of watching movies on smartphones to the improvement in device performance: sales of smartphones with large screens and high resolutions are increasing year by year, which makes watching more comfortable.
