The SSD speed issue started in July 2021, when the first complaints about SSD slowdowns surfaced. In December 2021 and February 2022, Microsoft repeatedly released patches to address the device speed issue. But the bug did not go away.

In March 2023, the vendor released a major Moment 2 update, after which Windows 11 PC owners started to complain massively again about a noticeable slowdown in drivers. And KB5029263 was released in August.

But in the update notes there is no mention of the “brakes” of the drivers and no explanation as to what fixed it. All that is known to users is that most likely the bug lies in the KB5023706 update and possibly others. At the same time, a number of complaints about the slow performance of SSDs keep coming.
