In search of the perfect urban scooter, I was able to test a new product from Acer – the ES Series 3 PLUS model.
In the range of the brand, this scooter is next to the Acer ES Series 3 MAX, which I really liked with double suspensions (review here), so it was especially interesting to see the difference and understand who Acer made the ES Series 3 PLUS for.
After several days of testing, the advantages of the Plus model became clear (haha), which will be discussed below. Looking ahead, I’ll note that this electric scooter turned out to be so elegant and compact that without a doubt will become an alternative urban companion for any girl or teenager. I still recommend uncles to pay attention to the version with the MAX prefix.
Let’s first explain how these two models differ, and then we will show how to prepare the scooter for the autumn-rainy season, so as not to worry about lying in the battery compartment and quietly cutting through puddles (but without fanaticism!).
It is very easy to make waterproofing with your own hands, and after watching our instruction video, you will see for yourself..
But first, the difference.
Difference between Acer ES Series 3 PLUS and Acer ES Series 3 MAX
In fact, there are not so many transitions between the two models of the theory, and for clarity, I list them as a list:

This is where the fundamental differences between the models end. There are minor changes in the design of the “goose”, which is the link between the deck and the steering column, but this is already a matter of taste and for me personally, both the single pipe in the ES Series 3 MAX and the triple pipe in the ES Series 3 PLUS.
Next, I will create the visual, technical and performance characteristics of the ES Series 3 PLUS, just remember that in the ES Series 3 MAX they are almost exactly the same.
Aluminum frame, inflatable wheels and light weight
The light-alloy frame has already become the hallmark of Acer scooters. Strong, and at the same time quite light – the weight of the scooter is only 13 kg. For the convenience of the rider, a rubber anti-slip mat is glued on the deck.
The steering column is not adjustable in height, but it’s enough: with a tall height of 183 cm, it’s convenient for me to hold on to the steering wheel, I don’t have to bend. On the handlebar on the left there is a bicycle bell and a mechanical brake handle, on the right there is a gas ring that needs to be rotated, like on motorcycles.
The ES Series 3 PLUS is a front wheel drive scooter, meaning the motor is hidden in the front wheel. Its power is 350 watts, which is enough for a confident ride with a rider weighing up to 80 kg.
If the rider is heavier, the scooter will be reluctant to accelerate even though the ES Series 3 PLUS claims a maximum load of 120kg.
The dampers are located above the front wheel, so vibrations from bumps in the road will not be transmitted to your arms and back. The power reserve in the scooter is 40 km in ideal conditions, in fact with me (weight 88 kg) ES Series 3 PLUS disappears on average for 30-32 km in a calm mode in Moscow.
The movement mechanism is already standard for Acer scooters: a massive lever at the base of the steering column must be pressed, and then a “pipe” should be placed and secured with a special tongue to the rear fender. In this form, the scooter will easily fit in the trunk of any passenger car.
The wings reliably protect the rider’s legs from splashes, so that you can safely cross the wet road. Dual braking system, electronic coupled with mechanical control, allows you to confidently maneuver in the mass flow and control the speed.

On the steering column, you can also find the on-board computer screen, which displays the current speed, battery level, selected mode and headlight icon.
Acer ES Series 3 PLUS has three driving modes: Eco (up to 5 km/h), Drive (up to 15 km/h) and Sport, in which the scooter accelerates to 25 km/h officially allowed in Russia.
It remains to add that the scooter out of the box is almost ready for use. You just need to fasten the steering wheel to the steering column with 4 complete screws, on which even a threaded lock is applied from the factory.
However, in order for the equipment to work longer, especially on the eve of the autumn season with an abundance of puddles and rains, we recommend waterproofing the scooter. It consists in applying silicone sealant to several key components of the Acer ES Series 3 PLUS, through which moisture can hypothetically enter the deck.
The whole procedure takes a maximum of 20 minutes of free time and only the presence of a Phillips screwdriver requires maximum sealant, double-sided 3M tape and gloves so as not to be smeared with sealant in the process.

If you are too lazy to watch the video, it will be brief:
1. Carefully peel off the rubber mat from the deck
2. Unscrew 10 screws
3. Remove the 3 rubber plugs at the base of the rear fender
4. Loosen the 3 screws at the base of the rear fender and carefully remove it.
5. Remove deck cover
6. Lubricate the hole with the rubber plug in the back of the deck with sealant
7. Apply sealant around deck
8. Close the deck cover and liberally coat the hole under the rear fender with sealant.
9. Tighten all the screws in reverse order, wipe off the remaining sealant.
10. Leave the scooter for 24 hours for the sealant to dry.
That’s it, the waterproofing procedure is over, you can safely go outside after the rain. The main thing is not to drive through very deep puddles, in order to avoid water getting into the motor-wheel.
This can lead to rust and a decrease in traction over time.
Comfortable scooter for city trips
Acer ES Series 3 PLUS is quite light and maneuverable, but at the same time frisky and high-torque. This scooter will give many pleasant minutes to its owner (or even the owner), turning routine daily movements around the city into exciting adventures.
The main thing is to keep your hands behind the wheel, do not listen to music with headphones while riding, keep an eye on the city environment and wear at least a bike helmet before the trip.
If you need to use public transport, ES Series 3 PLUS can easily fit on a bus, you can go down to the subway with it and not interfere with other passengers. Even a fragile girl can cope with transportation, because I remind you: the weight of the scooter is only 13 kg.
