The Mir payment system aims to expand the use of deferred debiting of funds when paying for goods and services. Starting in the spring of 2024, banks will be able to carry out this type of operation.

Mir will introduce deferred payment for taxis and markets

The functionality can be used when paying for purchases in markets or taxi services, car sharing, etc., RBC learned. Now deferred payments with Mir cards are valid only when paying for a trip on public transport.

Next year, the payment system will determine a list of goods and services that cannot be paid with deferred debit, even if the cardholder has kept his data.

  • Sberbank director German Gref announced in June his intention to create an alternative to card operator Mir, the National Payment Card System (NPCS). He stressed that this would allow the quality of services to be compared and influence prices. However, there are no specific plans yet.
