Grandfather with a whip gives heat. Watch Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Fortune

Harrison Ford’s “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Fortune” is released in the US this week.

Fans of the franchise have been waiting for new adventures of the charismatic archaeologist at the age of 15.

We have already watched the novelty and are ready to tell you whether the expectations were in vain or the film was a success. Spoiler: it’s not so clear cut.

This movie is better protected

The previous film “Indiana Jones and the England of the Crystal Skull”, directed by Steven Spielberg, was released back in 2008. Ambiguous, jagged in pace, with a lot of CGI, antagonists from the Soviet Union and other moments that disappointed ordinary viewers and diehard fans. I still don’t feel like rewatching that movie, unlike the first three stories.

I hasten to reassure, in the new picture almost nothing to do with the atmosphere of that movie. It is much better, more thoughtful and more interesting.

A special tribute to this director, James Mangold, who has great respect for the hero and spirit of previous Indiana films. In every possible way, the director tried to convey to me the lightness and warmth for which many fell in love with the Indiana franchise.

The film has everything for the fact that we love Indiana.

Here is a flashback scene with a young Indiana that is magnificent in duration, in which there was a place for humor, an action scene, a chase and, in fact, a plot start. There are subtle jokes and references to individual parts of the paintings.

Not immediately, but the sharp dialogues and catchy phrases of the main characters are thought out, which dilute the seriousness of the story. It even has its own “short man”, albeit now of an Arab appearance. And of course, one of John Williams’ most famous theme customizations is also in place!

But still, I think it’s new coldness and subtle calculation that give the film an overall artificial tone.. The modern CGI aesthetic doesn’t have the same warmth as its predecessors. The beauty was originally in the inexpensive cost of creating the project and all the scary people who worked on it.

Despite the crazy budget $300 millionThe film does not achieve the grandeur that the first three films in the series achieved in the 1980s.

In addition, the direction, focusing on the right nostalgic notes, stumbles between a tribute to independence and an attempt to bring some originality to the story. As a result, nothing new film appears. Even Indiana’s enemies are the same, speaking pure German.

At the moment, the main disappointment in the “Wheel of Fate” is the main antagonist. Mikkelsen is a good actor, but he doesn’t have half of his abilities in this movie. His character, although pursuing an unusual goal, is still too cardboard.

Indiana is very old and it’s sad

Perhaps the reason lies in the main character himself. Undoubtedly, for his 80s, Harrison Ford keeps himself peppy.

Already on the very first stage, he saw not just a rude tired grandfather, but also an old man who can pick up a baseball bat and deal with loud neighbors in hand-to-hand combat. Everything is like in the good old days. But there is one “but” – as in the previous pictures, we look at the old Indian a little sadly.

The real Indiana Jones, like James Bond, was as handsome as a magazine cover model, changed girls like gloves, solved intelligence problems or, in rare cases, with cubes. Yes, he was just a stylish guy in a hat and a whip!

The charm of Indiana Jones is the self-confidence of Jones himself. You believed in his motivation for actions and in the realism of his actions. Everything was in its place.

But can you think that the old man can escape from the hands of several bandits, along the way weighing those tasty cuffs? That’s what I don’t believe. And in the film, such moments occur over and over again.

Of course, you are glad that Indiana is still good, but along the way you realize that the action does not correspond to the age of the hero and it would be great to release the film 25 years ago. That’s when everything was perfect.

Decent farewell, but not the best part of the series

The film itself is an obvious farewell to the hero, to come to terms with this pandemic. In this regard, the film is perfect. The picture is a real gift for all fans of the adventure genre and, of course, for everyone who grew up on the original Indiana Jones films.

Pleasant unobtrusive humor, endless adventures in different countries and locations, a creative attraction in the form of funny chases on a variety of vehicles, worthy impressive graphics and a clever plot.

In other words, it is worthy of the conclusion of the adventure cult saga about the badass archaeologist. The hero goes on a well-deserved rest. Now for sure.
