Google’s plan to “reinvigorate” Assistant includes using large language models (LLM). It is believed that such an “advanced assistant” will reanalyze the screen for dates, times, locations and offer to save them in Google Calendar, all this, of course, will be controlled by voice.
This change from the past, where Now on Tap has already done a great job of providing display-related information, highlights how Google is moving towards Voice Assistant features. Although he started life with smart speakers and eventually moved to phones, some argue he over-focused on sound, neglecting the screen.
Lee believes that the Android development team, who are experts in the capabilities of the platform, should develop new features that will bring back the lightness and usefulness of Now on Tap.
