This virus, called Mintnav, was first noticed by a user on Reddit. After that, many other Xiaomi device owners confirmed the issue and one of the users even filed a complaint with the Indian Minister of Electronics and Information Technology.

According to the Howtoremove Guide website, Mintnav is a browser redirection program and can be a serious source of inconvenience during daily smartphone use.

However, it is not yet clear how exactly this malicious code reached Xiaomi devices. Some think this may have occurred after another software update.

If you encounter this problem, you can get rid of the virus by going to the Chrome browser settings and disabling the “Home” option or resetting it to the default value.
