A curious investment that has nothing to do with technology or the environment has made The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which bought 1.7 million Anheuser-Busch shares last quarter.

The company owns the most popular beers in the US and Mexico, Bud Light and Modelo, according to a regulatory report, and spent about $95 million.

This lifeline will especially come in handy for Bud Light, who has fallen hard since the incident with powerful transgender Dylan Mulvaney. His decision to send her a personalized jar sparked a transphobic backlash and alienated some of the company’s top customers. The company’s subsequent response outraged members of the LGBTQ community.

Gates, who has previously admitted that he is “not a big beer drinker,” has also bought other brands of beer. Earlier this year, the fund also bought shares in Heineken Holding, the parent company of Dutch beer, for nearly $1 billion.

Bud Light maker Anheuser Busch sells 7 of its best beer brands to Canadian company

Modelo (owned in the US by Constellation Brands and outside the US by Anheuser-Busch) beat Bud Light to claim the infamous beer crown. The Mexican beer brand is now the most popular beer in the US. This decline in overall sales has led to job cuts at Bud Light, with the company laying off over 350 people, roughly 2% of its total workforce. But while it may be difficult for a company that has always seemed to be the leader in American beer, this was only the beginning.

Anheuser-Busch has bought up craft breweries like Thanos that collect infinity stones. For a while, it seemed like every time a craft brewery gained some recognition, Anheuser-Busch devoured it like Pac-Man devouring flashing dots. In recent decades Anheuser-Busch Inbev’s portfolio has grown with big names such as Veza Sur, Karbach, Wynwood and Elysian. But with one outcome to contend with, we’re in for a real shake-up. This means it’s time to download some brands.

What brands of craft beer does the company sell?

Anheuser-Busch has reportedly decided to sell several of its brands to Tilray Brands. For those who don’t know, Tilray is the largest cannabis company in the world. By reaching an agreement with Anheuser-Busch, it will also become the fifth largest craft brewery and the fifteenth largest brewery in the US overall.

The breweries that sell Tilray Brands products are Breckenridge Brewery, Blue Point Brewing Company, 10 Barrel Brewing Company, Redhook Brewery, Widmer Brothers Brewing and Square Mile Cider Company. In addition, he also sells HiBall Energy. The final beer brand on the list is Shock Top, one of the most popular wheat beers on the US market.

It should be noted that this is not the first Tilray Brands entry into the world of beer. She already owns the well-known breweries SweetWater Brewing Company, Alpine Beer Company, Green Flash Brewing Company and Montauk Brewing Company. In addition, the popular Breckenridge Distillery is located here, as well as Happy Flower CBD sparkling cocktails.

The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2023 and this leaves us with some unresolved issues. Is this the end of the Anheuser-Busch sale or is there more to come? Is it only a matter of time before Anheuser-Busch decides to get rid of big names like Goose Island and Wicked Weed? Can Bud Light make a difference and regain popularity? Will your sales ever come close to where they used to be? Are American tastes just changing, or is it all because of the advertising campaign? There are many questions and not many answers.
