According to Isaacson, in the fall of 2022, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted a sneak attack on the Russian fleet in Sevastopol (Crimea) using six small unmanned underwater vehicles filled with explosives and used Starlink for guidance. After discussing the situation with Russia’s ambassador to the United States, Musk considered the attack reckless and decided to intervene.

It is believed that Musk personally monitored the situation and instructed technicians to disable Starlink within a radius of 100 km from the Crimean coast. As a result, the Ukrainian drones lost contact and were thrown safely to shore.
