Lithuania will begin to confiscate cars registered in Russia that try to enter the territory of the republic. This was reported by the heads of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, their words were quoted by Kommersant.
“This control will be carried out by customs, since that is their function,” said the head of the Lithuanian Ministry of the Interior, Agne Bilotaite.
An exception to the rule will be the transit of a car through Lithuania to the Kaliningrad region. According to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, the car will have to cross the territory of the republic in no more than 20 hours.
Lithuania took such measures in accordance with the recommendations of the European Commission on items that are prohibited from being imported from Russia into EU countries.
