Assange was granted bail and released by the High Court in London. As noted, the activist reached an agreement with the justice system in which he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to obtain and disclose classified U.S. national defense documents, according to documents filed in the District Court of the Northern Mariana Islands.

He is then expected to be sentenced to 62 months in prison, which will be served at a hearing on the island of Saipan, which will be recorded at 9am local time on Wednesday, June 26. And once all the paperwork is complete, Assange will board a charter plane to fly to Australia.

“This is the result of a global campaign that has involved grassroots organizers, press freedom advocates, legislators and leaders from across the political spectrum, as well as the United Nations,” WikiLeaks said in a statement.
