You can also choose the Offline option, which saves the devices’ last known location but does not actively participate in the network.
A unique option is the “Only online in high-traffic areas” option, which uses location data in busy areas like airports, but only if other users are also near the missing item.
Finally, there’s the “Anywhere network” option that works everywhere, even in low-traffic areas.
Google emphasizes that in order to ensure privacy and security, users’ device location data is encrypted and not visible to the company.
