Jeremy Sandmel, Apple’s senior director of GPU software, and Tim Millett, Apple’s vice president of iPhone and iPad architecture, gave IGN an extensive interview regarding the future of gaming and the iPhone 15 Pro videos in it.
The company noted that it is quite easy for developers to work with their equipment, and the big advantage is that they develop games for a specific iPhone model. Apple engineers have made great strides in creating high-performance and energy-efficient SoCs, GPUs and related software.
All previously announced games (Death Stranding, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Resident Evil Village/4 Remake) will be compatible with processors installed on iPad and Mac in the future. The developers are already working on this.
Capcom released Resident Evil Village last year for Mac and now for smartphones this year. And one of the things that allows this in principle is the combination of Apple Silicon, iPhone Silicon and iPad Silicon designs. The game is almost the same everywhere. It’s the same rendering, it’s the same quality rendering, and it’s the same game they had on their gaming PC and console.
We see this as part of one large unified platform, particularly graphics. You may notice that Capcom and Resident Evil have already started going down this path.

When it comes to controlling games using the touchscreen or gamepad, Apple doesn’t prioritize either method. Developers are free to decide what is best to play their games with. They can also provide two-way support.
With a USB-C port, gamers can output their iPhone 15 Pro to external 4K displays. But the picture quality will, of course, be lower for the sake of performance.
Summarizing the conversation, Apple noted that they consider the best gaming console to be the one that is always next to you. And the iPhone 15 Pro will be exactly that console. [IGN]
