China has become a monopolist of Russian car imports.

China’s share of Russian car imports reached 92% in the first eight months of 2023. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the acting head of the Federal Customs Service, Ruslan Davydov.

According to Davydov, Europe itself closed the Russian market. Russia’s trade with the countries of the European Union continues to decline, he specified.

In the first half of 2023, China accounted for about 70% of Russian car imports. According to Chinese customs estimates, cars from China worth $4.6 billion were imported into Russia during this period, 543% more than during the same period in 2022.

In 2021, China accounted for 10% of Russian car imports.
