Elon Musk is going to make X (formerly Twitter) completely paid, in order to rid the social network of bots. The billionaire and owner of the company spoke about his plans in a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Elon Musk decided to make access to X paid

According to Musk, introducing a paid subscription is the only way he can fight “a huge army of robots.” The businessman stated that a bot is “worthless,” but if he has to pay a few dollars, its real cost will increase considerably.

Musk did not specify when exactly to expect the innovation. But he said that today the platform has 550 million monthly users who make between 100 and 200 posts each day.

Before Elon Musk bought the social network last fall, Twitter was completely free. Becoming the new owner, the businessman began reforms in the company. One of them was the introduction of a paid subscription to Twitter Blue for $8 per month, which included support for a blue verification badge, which confirms the authenticity of the account.

After the billionaire rebranded Twitter X, the subscription was renamed X Premium.
