Experts from Tomsk Polytechnic University have developed a new technology that uses sunlight to accelerate chemical reactions. The basis of this technology is nanoribbons made of tungsten diselenide, and these are considered to be very effective for this purpose.

Creating nanoribbons from tungsten diselenide was a difficult task, but scientists from Tomsk Polytechnic University, in collaboration with researchers from Austria and Japan, have developed a method that facilitates this process and improves the properties of the material. They used a laser to deposit silver particles onto the tips of the nanoribbons.

These new nanoribbons are highly active in reactions when exposed to sunlight and can achieve almost 100% efficiency. In the future, this technology could be used to generate energy, purify water, and synthesize chemical compounds.
