Novosibirsk scientists have developed a new asking material based on graffiti oxide, which can effectively purify water. Researchers from NSTU improved the synthesis process and added five components to the reaction, including sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide, which has become a key reactive to control the properties of the material. Since the heating temperature is adjusted towards 350 degrees, it was possible to obtain high porosity and increase the surface area of the material ten times.
This graphite Sorbent has unique properties. In addition to water purification, it can form a lower layer of foam with low thermal conductivity when heated. This opens the expectations of creating environmentally friendly fire coverings and other functional materials that are safe for health and environment.
Development shows the potential of use in industry and ecology. NSTU’s press service, a new synthesis approach, from filtering of water to creating non -toxic preventive coatings, it is possible to create a universal material with a wide range of use.
