Scientists from the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences have developed an adhesive that remains strong even at very low temperatures down to -70°C. This is a significant achievement, considering the active development of oil and gas production in the Arctic region.
This new adhesive has unique properties thanks to the original synthesis method using various hardeners. Not only is it stronger than previous designs, it can also be used as a filler material and even as a frost-resistant, self-healing coating.
This project, known as “a new generation of elastic, frost-resistant elastomers”, promises to be important for the development of the Arctic regions and receives support from the Russian Fundamental Research Foundation.
