Evgeny Kaspersky, head of Kaspersky Lab, shared his concerns about the low level of cyber protection in the world. He noted that nearly all infrastructure, from smartphones to factories and power plants, uses outdated and insecure operating systems. This makes them vulnerable to cyber attacks. Kaspersky emphasized that attacks in cyberspace are becoming increasingly professional, and the level of infrastructure protection is significantly lower than the professionalism of the attackers.

Kaspersky expressed particular concerns about the security of critical infrastructures such as factories and power plants. He believes that attacks against these targets could lead to more serious consequences than attacks against popular instant messaging programs or operating systems such as WhatsApp, Android and iOS. Industrial security is important to him, as vulnerability in this area can lead to disastrous consequences.

Roskomnadzor had previously threatened to block the app in Russia, stipulating that WhatsApp must remove hostile channels containing banned information. In response, proposals were raised to transition to Russian services in accordance with Russian legislation. Also in June, the FSB announced an intelligence operation that involved infecting thousands of iPhones, including devices belonging to foreign embassies in Russia. Kaspersky Lab also detected targeted cyberattacks on Apple devices of company employees worldwide.
