The Apple store in Foshan, Guangdong province, recommended against using Android’s USB-C cables due to differences in pin placement and slightly less space between connectors. Similar warnings have reportedly been issued by many other Apple stores.
Critics have suggested that these warnings are intended to encourage the purchase of more expensive official Apple charging cables.
Apple has not yet made an official statement regarding the use of cables from other manufacturers with the iPhone 15 series.
