Against the background of personnel shortages, Rostelecom plans to replace part of the missing IT specialists with technologies within two to three years. The idea refers to the Lukomorye full-cycle software development platform: the solution will cover development, including in the areas of business analysis, design, testing and documentation creation.
The operator announced Lukomorye in the middle of summer, but then it was only about simplifying the work of IT specialists. The head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, estimated the shortage of IT personnel in Russia at 500,000 to 700,000 people, writes Kommersant.
Rostelecom does not plan to fire or replace current employees with AI. At an initial stage, Lukomorye will be used in the operator’s own projects, then it is planned to sell the platform to other companies facing personnel shortages.
Investments in the project are not disclosed. According to analysts, such a development “at first” could cost Rostelecom 1.5 billion rubles.
