The second phase of the SiAW program focuses on the construction of the prototype missile. Northrop’s Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile Extended Range (AARGM-ER) will serve as a bridge as SiAW is developed. The SiAW missile will be designed to combat a range of threats, including cruise missile launchers, GPS jammers and integrated air defense systems.

The Air Force plans to purchase 400 SiAW missiles by Fiscal Year 28 and up to 3,000 missiles over time for a total cost of $8.4 billion. The missile is designed to provide the capabilities of fifth and later generation aircraft.
