Only a few Russian banks have rolled out this feature so far, but more banks are expected to follow suit and partner with local banks to make payments using QR codes.

For customers, the process is similar to payments in Russia, where the user scans the QR code and confirms the transaction. While QR code payments are currently limited abroad, increased partnerships with foreign banks will likely lead to wider adoption.

Specific banks are not specified to avoid exposure to sanctions. This development is an alternative to international payment systems such as Visa and Mastercard.
