MTS Bank plans to launch a service to pay for purchases on Spotify, Twitch, PlayStation, Xbox, Discord, Nintendo, EA Play, etc. The launch of the service is scheduled for the first half of October.
The service will work as follows: the user purchases a “voucher” in the bank’s mobile application to top up the amount in one of the services. Then you receive by email instructions for setting up the service and a code that you must enter on the site itself, writes Kommersant.
After the departure of many foreign gaming and streaming services, an entire market for the sale of digital codes has appeared. This service is offered by M.Video-Eldorado, DNS and others.
MTS Bank is not the first financial organization that tries to make money on citizens’ interest in foreign content. In July, Tinkoff added the ability to top up your Steam wallet. For the service, the bank intended to charge a commission of 9% of the replacement amount. The maximum transfer amount is limited to 14 thousand rubles, only users from Russia and Kazakhstan can replenish their wallet. A couple of days after launch, it turned out that the service was unavailable.
According to the interlocutor of the publication, the difference between purchasing a code on one of the sites and what MTS Bank offers is the more official status of the latter. In this way, the source points out, the bank intends to take over a part of the “market, although largely gray, but already formed.”
