Yandex is bringing back voice purchasing via the Alice assistant for Lavka. This will allow users to order goods and products via voice command. Previously, such initiatives were not very successful, as only 1.5% of consumers in Russia used voice purchasing, and Yandex considered this function more of a visual feature.

You can now order groceries and daily items through Alice. The user can easily list a shopping list without even naming specific items. For example, just say “milk” and the system will fill the cart based on previous purchases. Payment for the order is made after the dialogue is completed via notification on the phone. Audio purchases available in Moscow and St. Louis from September 28. It will be available for sale in St. Petersburg.

So far, data on how actively users will use voice purchasing has not been disclosed. In Russia, unlike the United States, voice purchasing has not gained widespread popularity. Experts say that one of the reasons for this is that the process is inconvenient because users cannot see the products and cannot choose based on the images. But Yandex decided to return to this idea, perhaps in the hope of changing consumer behavior.
