X5 Group will introduce an automatic sales blocking system for expired products

The company that manages the Perekrestok, Pyaterochka and Chizhik chains will introduce a system to automatically block the sale of expired products in its stores. A representative of the X5 Group told TASS about this.

“With this technology we see that expired products simply do not appear on the receipt,” said Stanislav Bogdanov, director of government relations at X5 Group.

Bogdanov added that the company will expand this mechanism to its stores throughout Russia.

An experiment to automatically block sales of certain types of products with expired dates, particularly dairy products and drinking water, was in effect until August 1. According to Honest Sign, this caused a 25% decrease in sales of expired products.
