This fuel does not react to open flame, making it safe for storage and transportation.

The basis of the new fuel is an ionic liquid similar to table salt, but with a lower melting point and organic composition.

Scientists changed the formula of this liquid and replaced chlorine with perchlorate. As a result of the experiments, it was determined that the liquid did not ignite from the flame and glowed when voltage was applied.

Yujie Wang, one of the authors of the study, noted that the flame became brighter and stronger when more voltage was added to the liquid.

All of these can be used to regulate combustion power in engines. Theoretically, the new fuel can be used in any vehicle.
